Burton A Johnson, M.D., J.D.

    Like many of you, I have pursued various interests. As a young man, I was drawn to investing but chose to follow my family tradition and studied medicine. I went on to specialize in radiology. I also studied law, and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1978. In the meantime, my interest in investing continued. I became a registered investment advisor in 1982. I was a full-time doctor, part-time lawyer, and part-time investment manager until 1990, when I hung up my doctor and lawyer hats and focused on being a full-time Portfolio Manager.

SEC: 1982-1993. (SEC remanded my advisor category to state regulation.)
State of Maryland Registration: 1993-present.
National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) 2002-present
FINRA was created in July 2007 and took over the duties of the old National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).
